Lois Schonberger is a partner in McKinsey & Company’s Washington, DC office and has spent her career creating product organizations and digital solutions for companies in Silicon Valley and beyond. As a global leader in McKinsey’s product-manager and product-owner group, she has helped build a thriving community of more than 600 product professionals worldwide.
Her product experience ranges from innovative wireless-networking hardware to data aggregation and monitoring software for the solar-power and financial-services sectors. She has deep expertise in supporting clients with agile operating models and digital transformations in complex regulatory environments, with a special focus on designing talent, culture, and product strategies for high-performing digital organizations.
Lois’s recent client projects include the following:
Working with a large public utility to set up the operating model, organization, and product strategy for a new digital-delivery unit designed to unlock $300 million in value through frontline digital enablement
Advising a leading oil-and-gas company on transforming its operations through radically new digital solutions, including building capabilities in agile methods for technologists and educating executives on agile principles, operating models, and leadership mindsets
Supporting one of the largest energy producers in North America in the design, piloting, and scale-up of a new digital operating model, introducing best practices in design thinking and conducting a rigorous analysis of cost centers and potential efficiencies across the portfolio
Building the product and design capabilities within a federal agency responsible for serving over four million individuals
Helping a Canadian bank launch an innovation hub for its customer experience, including developing a channel for user feedback and customer insight; scaling the new organization from concept to a hundred-strong team in six months
Earlier in her career, Lois led the product and design teams at several early-stage, high-growth companies in the Bay Area and founded a start-up that she subsequently sold. She holds a bachelor’s in art history and studio art from Dartmouth College.
