James E. Francis
Founder of BlackChat AI and Artificial Integrity
Visionary at the Intersection of AI, Culture, and Capital
James E. Francis is the founder of BlackChat AI – a dynamic media and AI literacy platform exploring artificial intelligence through a cultural lens. At its core, BlackChat AI is dedicated to raising awareness, expanding access, and advocating for Black and Brown communities to not only engage with AI but to help shape its future. BlackChat AI positions AI as a creative and strategic frontier – one that Black and Brown communities are equipped to shape and lead, drawing from deep legacies of innovation and cultural expression. From spotlighting overlooked voices to exploring how AI intersects with culture, economics, and creative industries, Francis is reimagining who gets to define the next era of technology.

He is also the founder of Artificial Integrity, a pioneering framework and forthcoming book (Artificial Integrity: How AI Will Redefine Leadership, Trust, and Human Potential) that challenges today’s technologists and institutions to build AI systems aligned with humanity’s highest values. Designed as a strategic and moral compass, Artificial Integrity blends ethics, governance, and cultural insight to advocate for AI that enhances human dignity—not just efficiency. As generative AI reshapes music, media, and identity itself, Francis’s work underscores a fundamental truth: AI should make us better, not just faster.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Francis is also the Founder, President, and CEO of Paradigm Asset Management, a data-native investment firm that has managed over $7 billion for institutional clients worldwide. He pioneered the firm’s innovative “Collective Intelligence” approach – leveraging human expertise, data, and software to deliver culturally informed investment strategies. Before Paradigm, he held leadership roles at Oppenheimer & Co., Shearson Lehman Hutton, and IBM, where he built technology solutions for Fortune 100 companies.
A proud Morehouse College graduate, Francis is equally committed to public service. He has served on boards such as the Council of Urban Professionals, ArtsConnection, and the C.J. Francis Sickle Cell Foundation, and is active with organizations like Black in AI, the Partnership on AI, the National Association of Security Professionals, and the Council of Institutional Investors. Across every domain – finance, media, tech, and community – Francis remains focused on one core mission: ensuring that the future we build with AI is as just, creative, and inclusive as the people it serves.
From investing to immersive storytelling, Francis’s work ensures that intelligence – human and artificial – remains rooted in culture, equity, and imagination.
